Katherine 'Kat' Varland is a small town girl, born and raised---and every day, her dreams of owning her own bakery get further away. When I started this book, I was frustrated at the main 2 characters as you could see where you wanted the book to head. It was lovely to see them move away from their hometown and try and explore their feelings as well. Loved Kat's ideas on her cupcakes. This made me feel like I was watching Masterchef (on any of the tv channels) but a cupcake version. There was cattiness in there as well (much as you would expect any kind of competition). But would Kat leave Lucas for the bright lights and the chance to make her own cupcakes. All will be revealed when you read this delightful book.
