My Soul to Take (Soul Screamers #1) by Rachel Vincent

She doesn't see dead people, but...

She senses when someone near her is about to die. And when that happens, a force beyond her control compels her to scream bloody murder. Literally.

Kaylee just wants to enjoy having caught the attention of the hottest guy in school. But a normal date is hard to come by when Nash seems to know more about her need to scream than she does. And when classmates start dropping dead for no apparent reason, only Kaylee knows who'll be next...

I've had this on paperback for quite some time, then I got it on Kindle and someone suggested we read this for a buddy read.

It took me a while to get into it. Not sure how I was going to read it as I found the storyline slightly slow in the beginning. It has twists and turns that you never thought of, makes you still wonder if they could of added a bit more to certain characters. I will definitely be carrying on with the series as I have the majority of them on paperback.

The Gift: A Christmas Miracle - Joanne Clancy

Celebrate the most wonderful time of the year with this heartwarming Christmas novella from best selling author Joanne Clancy ~ The Gift: A Christmas Miracle.

Julie wants only one gift this holiday season, but it’s going to take a Christmas miracle to make her wish come true.

Julie Hamilton loves Christmas. It’s her favorite time of year, from the cinnamon smell of freshly baked mince-pies to the excitement of buying gifts for family and friends, decorating the tree, and hanging stockings for Santa Claus on the mantelpiece.
This Christmas promises to be extra special because she’s expecting the perfect gift--her first baby--on Christmas Eve.
However, a chance encounter turns her world upside down, and soon, she’s praying for her very own Christmas miracle.
Can the spirit of the Christmas season and the kindness of strangers find a way to make her wish come true?

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. I thought this would be a lovely Christmas book to do with gifts and things with families. I was wrong. I found this book to be intriguing as the subject of the storyline could happen to anyone. Not just at Christmas, but any time. It had me glued to my kindle all the way through and loved Joanne Clancy's take on a situation that can and has happened many times in this world.

1st book of Joanne Clancy's I've read and will be reading more of hers as well.

Tick Tock - James Patterson

Someone is recreating the crimes of the most terrifying killers in New York's history.

TICK... A KILLER'S COUNTDOWN BEGINS.

A rash of horrifying crimes tears through New York City, throwing it into complete chaos.

TICK... CAN MICHAEL BENNETT CATCH HIM?

The city calls on Detective Michael Bennett, pulling him away from a seaside retreat with his ten adopted children, his grandfather, and their beloved nanny, Mary Catherine. Bennett enlists the help of a former colleague, FBI Agent Emily Parker. But as his affection for Emily grows into something stronger, his relationship with Mary Catherine takes an unexpected turn.

TOCK... BEFORE HIS TIME IS UP?

All too soon, another appalling crime leads Bennett to a shocking discovery that exposes the killer's pattern and the earth-shattering enormity of his plan.

I started this a while ago. Had it on my kindle for nearly 3 yrs lol, kept thinking I will read this soon. So after I have now read it, it was really good. I've just not been that well to read as much as I could.

It's brilliant to re-connect with Michael Bennett and his brood lol. On a case whilst on holiday at the family beach house and he still has time for romance lol. A brilliant psychopath and his side kick makes a good book in my opinion.

A Touch of Lilly - Nina Pierce

Ex-Chicago detective LILLY D’ANGELO has a secret she doesn’t share with anyone. A master of the one night stand, she’s given up ever finding a soul mate and thrown herself head first into her career. That is, until she captures the wrong alien. Kidnapped and sold into the sex slave trade, she’s shipped into deep space. Barely escaping with her life, Lilly now travels the galaxy working as a bounty hunter using her secret talents to bring down criminals and seeking revenge on the one male who ruined her life.

Agent DALLAS SAWYER works for deep space’s version of the FBI. After a disastrous mission that left several of his team members murdered, a president executed, and Dallas near death, he’s determined to take down the assassin targeting government officials. When a sexy human female gets between him and his goal, Dallas and his alien partner find themselves on the receiving end of a passionate night they won’t soon forget and a proposition that may very well blow up in their faces.

Because in deep space … true love can happen with just a touch.

** Reader Advisory: This book contains graphic language, threats, general cursing, unpronounceable alien names and a whole lot of passionate sex including a little bondage and some hot m/f/m lust.

I was given this for an honest review from Netgalley. I'm sorry it's taken me so long to read it.

Now since I've started this book last night (2/12/14) and I found it slightly boring in the beginning, I thought I would carry on to see where this was leading. As it said in the synopsis, M/F/M lust was meant to be added. Well I got as far as even halfway through the book and it had sex (yes), cursing swear words (yes), bondage (a bit) and it was a Sci-fi book. BUT WHERE WAS THE THREESOME??????????

Well, we had to wait for that didn't we and boy was the build up so shocking as to who and where it was happening was like out of this world (literally ;) and I for one was like OMG).

Dallas is a man on a mission and who has hang ups with the system and Lilly is a woman on a mission who is after 2 things and what is she hiding under clothes that can turn men on just like that (at a click of fingers). Find out in this amazing book.

NYPD Red 2 by James Patterson

When NYPD Red arrives at a crime scene, everyone takes notice. Known as the protectors of the rich, famous, and connected, NYPD Red is the elite task force called in only for New York City's most high-profile crimes. And Detective Zach Jordan is the best of the best, a brilliant and relentless pursuer of justice. He puts professionalism above all, ignoring his feelings for his partner, Detective Kylie MacDonald, the woman who broke his heart when they first met in the academy.

But even with their top-notch training, Zach and Kylie aren't prepared for what they see when they're called to a crime scene in the heart of Central Park. They arrive to find a carousel spinning round and round, its painted horses grinning eerily in the early morning dark. There is only one rider: a brutally slaughtered woman, her body tied up and dressed in a Hazmat suit, on display for the world to see.

The victim, a woman of vast wealth and even greater connections, is the fourth in a string of shocking murders that have hit the city. As the public pressure mounts, and political and personal secrets of the highest order hang in the balance, Zach and Kylie must find out what's really behind the murderer's rampage. But Kylie has been acting strange recently--and Zach knows whatever she's hiding could threaten the biggest case of their careers.

NYPD Red 2 is the next outstanding novel in James Patterson's newest series, a thriller that careens through New York City and deep into the psyche of a depraved killer you've never seen before.

I picked this up as I needed to read it for the next part of my reading challenge I am doing. Plus I wanted to know more on the new series I am starting.

Well, it started off weird as I was like who are these characters and what have they got to do with the storyline. As the story progressed, it got more interesting and I thought I had the whole book sussed from about nearly a 1/4 way through the book. Well I got to 3/4 way through and I was like WHOA! I never saw that coming as I thought it was already sorted. I am so glad I got to read this book today and LOVED EVERY SINGLE SUSPENSEFUL MINUTE

NYPD Red - James Patterson

It's the start of Hollywood on Hudson, and New York City is swept up in the glamour. Every night, the red carpet rolls out for movie stars arriving at premieres in limos; the most exclusive restaurants close for private parties for wealthy producers and preeminent directors; and thousands of fans gather with the paparazzi, hoping to catch a glimpse of the most famous and beautiful faces in the world. With this many celebrities in town, special task force NYPD Red is on high alert-and they can't afford to make a single mistake.

Then a world-renowned producer fatally collapses at his power breakfast, and top NYPD Red Detective Zach Jordan is the first one on the scene. Zach works with his beautiful new partner, Detective Kylie MacDonald-who also happens to be his ex-girlfriend-to discover who the murderer might be. But this is only the beginning: the most brutal, public, and horrifyingly spectacular crimes they've ever encountered are about to send all of New York into chaos, putting NYPD Red on the ropes.

Zach and Kylie know there's no way of telling what a killer this deranged will do next. With the whole world watching, they have to find a way to stop a psychopath who has scripted his finale down to the last explosive detail. With larger-than-life action, relentless speed, and white-knuckle twists,NYPD Red is the next mega-blockbuster from "The Man Who Can't Miss." (TIME)

He's bbbbbbbbbaaaaaaaaccccccccckkkkkkkkkk after so many months/years of collaborating with others and not sure how to accept some of the books I've read of his (not saying he's not a great author cos I LOVE James Patterson books), just that some are a bit tedious.

I JUMPED into this book and boy am I  glad I did. It has all the temptations to bring a gal back to her own way of loving a book. Has all the sex, gory details and the bang of the attention to the chase.

Zach and Kylie have a history together and then they get thrown together as partners in this great heist of a book. Who is the Chameleon and what has Lexi got to do with it? Read what they get up to in this terrific thriller of a novel.
